We use our own cookie and analytics tools to understand how people find and use Calorize. If you came from a Google ad, we tell Google when you sign up or buy, to measure that ad. There are no ads inside the app. Your choice is remembered for a year.
What the watch shows
In the glance list (scroll up/down from the watch face):
- eaten / daily goal, for example 1 516 / 2 100;
- a progress bar — orange while you're within your goal, rose once you're over it;
- how much is left, or how far over you are.
When you open Calorize (select the glance):
- a calorie ring around the edge of the screen and a large figure for what you've eaten;
- how much is left, or how far over you are;
- protein, fat and carbs, each with its own bar towards your goal.
Calories are shown in your account's unit (kcal or kJ), and labels in your account's language.
On an Instinct the ring sits in the small round window at the top, and on watches with real hands (Instinct Crossover) it becomes a bar, so nothing hides under the hands.
Can I dictate food from a Garmin?
No. Garmin doesn't give third-party apps access to the watch microphone, so on a Garmin Calorize only shows your day. Log food as you always do — in the app, by voice with Mira, or from an Apple Watch or a Wear OS watch — and the Garmin picks it all up on its own.

Works with both iPhone and Android: the watch gets its data through the Garmin Connect app on your phone.
Installing
- On your phone, open the Connect IQ app (Garmin's app store).
- Search for Calorize and tap Install.
- Wait for Garmin Connect to sync the watch — Calorize appears in your glance list.
Pairing with your account
You only need to do this once.
- In Calorize, open Profile → the Watch section → Generate pairing code. A 6-digit code and a timer appear; the code is valid for 10 minutes.
- On your phone, open Connect IQ (or Garmin Connect → your watch → Connect IQ apps) → Calorize → Settings.
- Type the 6 digits into Pairing code and save.
- Open Calorize on the watch — your figures appear within a few seconds. If you don't open it, the watch pairs on its own within a few minutes.
A paired Garmin is listed under Profile → Watch as Garmin, and you can revoke it there.
How often it updates
The watch fetches your day roughly every 5 minutes, and every time you open Calorize. Food logged in the app, through Mira or from another watch shows up on the Garmin within a few minutes at most. At midnight the day starts again from zero.
Limits
The Garmin only shows your day, so it doesn't use any Mira interactions.
Troubleshooting
- The watch says "Pair in Garmin Connect" — no code has been entered yet, or it expired. Generate a new one in Profile → Watch and enter it in Calorize's settings.
- Stuck on "Updating…" — the watch gets its data through your phone. Check that the phone is nearby, Bluetooth is on, Garmin Connect is running and you're online.
- The figures didn't change after logging — give it a few minutes, or open Calorize on the watch to refresh straight away.
- The Garmin asks to be paired again — it was revoked in Profile, or you signed out. Just pair again with a new code.
