Calorize widget on the home screen

Today's calories and macros right on your home screen, without opening the app. And the mic button on the widget opens dictation to Mira straight away.

What you need

  • An iPhone on iOS 26 or later, or an Android phone.
  • The latest version of Calorize from the App Store or Google Play — if the widget isn't in the list, update the app first.
  • Being signed in in the app: the widget shows the diary of the account you're signed in to.

How to add the widget on iPhone

  1. On the home screen, touch and hold an empty spot until the icons start to jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-left corner → Add Widget.
  3. Find Calorize in the list.
  4. Swipe sideways to pick a size — small or medium.
  5. Tap Add Widget, then Done.

How to add the widget on Android

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on the home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Find Calorize (the search at the top helps) and expand it — there is a small (2×2) and a wide (4×2) one.
  4. Touch and hold the one you want and drag it onto the home screen.

You can change the size any time: touch and hold the widget and drag its edge. Everything grows with it, so a big widget gets big figures. Every size shows calories and protein, fat and carbs, except the lowest, one-row-high wide widget: that one shows calories only.

What the widget shows

The widget mirrors the top block of your diary:

  • Eaten — how many calories are already in today's diary.
  • Left — how many are left until your goal. Once you're past the goal it says over and by how much — exactly as the diary does.
  • A progress bar towards your daily goal.
  • Protein, fat and carbs: how much is eaten and how much of the goal, with a bar for each — on both sizes.

Calories are shown in the unit set in your settings (kcal or kJ), and the labels are in your account's language.

The mic on the widget

Tap the mic button — Calorize opens straight into Mira's chat with dictation already listening. Say what was on the plate, for example "borscht and two slices of bread for lunch" — the words appear as you speak. From there it works like any chat with Mira.

  • On the small widget, the whole widget is the mic.
  • On the medium (wide) widget, the mic is its own button; tapping anywhere else opens the diary.

On Android, the first recording asks for microphone permission — the same as the mic inside the app.

The camera on the widget

The wide widget (medium on iPhone) has a camera button next to the mic. Tap it — Calorize opens straight into Mira's camera: photograph the plate, the packaging or the barcode, and Mira works out what is in it, as with the camera inside the chat. The small widget has the mic only.

When the numbers update

The widget updates by itself as soon as anything changes in your diary — wherever it came from: the app, Mira's chat, a watch or the website. Usually within a few seconds.

At midnight (in your time zone) the widget moves on to a new, empty day by itself.

If the numbers look out of date, open Calorize and close it again — the widget redraws right away.

If the widget says "Open Calorize and sign in"

The widget can't see an account. That happens after signing out, or right after installing. Open the app and sign in — the widget picks the account up by itself.

Widget on the lock screen (iPhone)

You can also put a compact version on the lock screen: touch and hold the lock screen → Customize → Lock Screen → tap the widget area → choose Calorize. Tapping it also opens dictation to Mira.
