Nutrition science has changed. A new era of technology and of understanding appetite has begun.

Ten years ago weight was explained by character, and counting calories was a job for the most disciplined. Since then medicine has recognised obesity as a disease, appetite research has explained why it is harder for some people than for others, and drugs appeared that gave millions a tool that finally works. Everything changed except one thing: you still have to count.

Calorize is your guide in this new world.

Our manifest

Where we start from

  • Obesity is a disease, not a character flaw.
  • Appetite is neurobiology, and it is wired differently in different people.
  • How hard it is for a person can be measured — which means it can be worked with.

This is the language of modern medicine now, not a bold guess.

Strong appetite, intrusive thoughts about food, hormonal differences, the aftermath of years of dieting, comorbidities, therapy — these are real variables that shape the outcome no less than the menu does. They can be accounted for.

Calorize works with exactly that reality: it counts, it shows patterns, it explains.

We want a person to see themselves more clearly — and to have something to lean on when deciding about their own body.

Why we built this

Why Calorize exists

Calorize did not start with a market. It started with my family.

Obesity, in various degrees, ran through everyone close to me. Along with it:

  • diabetes
  • metabolic syndrome
  • cardiovascular disease
  • and the daily limits all of that puts on a life

From childhood I watched illness take opportunities away from people. And I fought excess weight all my life myself — so I know this subject from the inside, not from a textbook.

The way out appeared when science finally explained appetite and technology delivered tools built for it. But they do not cancel the counting — they make it achievable for the first time.

That’s how Calorize came to be.

How the product evolved

Where we’ve arrived

At first, Calorize was about accurate, convenient tracking.

Then it became obvious that counting is only half the job. The other half is context: appetite, sleep, activity, routine, therapy, stage of life.

Context is what explains why the same number means different things to different people — and why advice “for everyone” works selectively.

That is why Calorize is growing into a system that helps you:

  • keep a diary in one sentence instead of ten taps
  • see patterns rather than isolated days
  • understand your own appetite
  • hold the norm as routinely as hygiene

What we believe

What we believe

Precision matters.

Because without it there is no clarity, and without clarity every decision is a guess.

Context matters.

Because the same advice gives different results to different people, and that is normal.

Appetite matters.

Because it is biological. That is where the real difficulty of the task is measured.

Technology changed the rules.

What took discipline ten years ago now takes one sentence: food recognition, an assistant, data from your watch. The app carries the complexity.

Lialia and Uliana Sakhno

We are Lialia and Uliana Sakhno.

Calorize is an independent Ukrainian product we grow ourselves. Behind it is not a big corporation or a faceless wellness brand, but real work, experience, mistakes, rethinking, and a lot of attention to detail.

We make Calorize the way we’d want to use it ourselves: smart, honest, precise, and human.

If this approach feels close to you

If you want to count not because you “need to pull yourself together”, but because it is simply part of taking care of yourself — that is exactly what Calorize is for.

Nutrition science has changed. Calorize will be your guide in this world.
